Dear California State Park Employees; Active, Retired, Retiree Trainees, Family and Friends

The 16th Annual “Retirees’ Rendezvous” is moving SOUTH to a new Venue. This year it will be held at CUYAMACA RANCHO STATE PARK. The date will be October 8 & 9, 2008.

Cuyamaca Rancho State Park will be celebrating it’s 75th Anniversary, with events on October 11, 2008, at the City / County School Camp area. The “Rendezvous” is being planned to provide ability for participants to enjoy both events.

The “Retirees Rendezvous” events will actually begin, with arrivals on Wednesday, October 7, 2008, (or a few days earlier). The Campground that is reserved at Cuyamaca Rancho SP will be the Los Vaqueros Group Camp. This campground is configured so as to accommodate larger RV units and tent camping.

There are rest rooms, showers and water available. There is an RV dump available in the Paso Picacho area.

The “Clyde Strickler Road-Kill Grille” will be held the evening of Wednesday, October 8. Bring whatever you run over, catch, shoot or buy, to Bar-B-Q for yourself, (or to share), and a side dish to share with others. A Continental Breakfast with pastries, fruit, juice and coffee will be served on the morning of October 9. The Thursday night, (October 9), dinner will be semi-potluck style with the participants to provide salads, (green, potato, macaroni, etc.), veggie plates or French bread. The committee will provide the Tri-tip / Chicken, Beans and Dessert.

The Raffle of donated items will be held after the Thursday night dinner. Donations of items that are homemade, purchased, self crafted or otherwise appropriated, will be gratefully accepted.

Any income, over and above the cost of the “Rendezvous”, will be placed into the CSPRA Jim Whitehead Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Camaraderie of old and new friends is the main reason for the “Retirees’ Rendezvous”, therefore
the “Rendezvous” is put on as an informal gathering of friends and acquaintances who have a common tie with each other through the California State Park System as Active or Retired Employees, family or friends. Should you know someone who fits this loose definition, that is not receiving “Rendezvous” information, please let us know. Send their name & address to Allison Pedley, Executive Manager, CSPRA @ P.O. Box 10606, Truckee, CA 96162 and / or copy the information you have received and give it to them. Then, bring them along.

A small number of cabins may be available in the park, on a first come basis, by contacting Supervising Ranger Bob Hillis at bhillis@parks.ca.gov or (760) 765-0655. A list of motels, B&B’s, etc can be gotten thru the Internet or suggested facilities by calling Kirk Wallace at the address/number below.

Any questions on the “Rendezvous”, do not hesitate to contact Kirk Wallace, (209) 586-3209

We look forward to receiving your reservation form, prior to 9-15-08, and seeing your smiling face at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park for the “Retirees’ Rendezvous”.
