VERL CLAUSEN
CSPRA Honorary State Park Ranger 2000

CSPRA selected Verl Clausen as this year's Honorary Ranger for the many years of com-mitment
to the preservation of redwood lands, wildlife habitat, biodiversity and rec-ognizing the need to preserve entire water-sheds.

For 14 years Verl served as the Executive Director of The Sempervirens Fund. During that time, The Sempervirens Fund raised more than $23 million to acquire 3,300 acres of redwood watershed land for State
Parks.

Verl recognized the importance of "linking parks and open spaces to provide an integrated parkland system." With this vision and under his leadership, critical purchaseswere made to link Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Butano State Park, Portola Redwoods State Park, Pescadero County Parks and Ano Nuevo State Reserve to create a large water-shed and habitat that truly captures the mission of CSPRA and all park professionals.
