To Our Members
While we will never support or encourage closures of California State Parks, we understand there is a severe budget dilemma in California. We recognize the importance of parks to the resources themselves, to the people of California, and to visitors of our state, and to the local, state-wide, and larger economies.
However, if partially closing or putting parks into caretaker status is required for the short term, CSPRA will work with our members, park and resource professionals and the public, to ensure the caretaking efforts of closed parks are done in a manner that provides protection to the core resources, which are an integral part of the public trust. These public-trust-resources are part of the very fabric of California, its people, and our heritage. They must not be exploited or irreversibly damaged in the short-term, so that they may return once-again, intact, for future generations.
