RE: SUPPORT - SB 404

On behalf of my client, the California State Park Rangers Association (CSPRA), I am writing to request your support on SB 404 by Senator Kehoe. This bill is currently on the Senate floor and is expected to be heard soon.

CSPRA is an organization of park professionals dedicated to advancement of the highest principles of public service, established to support and preserve California State Parks for present and future generations.

This bill requires the administering state agency to hold a public hearing prior to an action by the State Park and Recreation Commission (Commission) to remove wilderness dedesignation from a state wilderness area. Before the Commission approves a modification, adjustment, or designation of a state wilderness area, in administering state agency will be required to make a written finding that the modification, adjustment, or dedesignation is the only feasible alternative.
