Surprise Retirement Party for Becky Brown

"BCP" (Becky Change Proposal)
Summary

This proposal requests a celebration and gathering of friends to surprise (we hope!) and wish Becky Brown a wonderful retirement, as well as thank her for many years of service to the Department of Parks and Recreation.

This proposal supports the five core program elements for a great party: good friends, great location, good food, good fun and a good reason!

The effective date of this retirement celebration is Friday, May 13, 2005 at Sutter's Fort at 6:00 pm.

Background/History

Despite threats to lock the door so she can't leave, after over 30 years of State service and over 20 years in DPR's Budget Section, Becky is moving on to join her husband Mike in the life of leisure - no more budget drills, hearings or BCPs!

Justification

Since we can't stop Becky from leaving, it is critical that we provide the opportunity for her friends and colleagues to gather together to wish her well!

In order to accomplish this program objective, please join us for an evening at Sutter's Fort, complete with a buffet and beverages. A no-host beer and wine bar will be available. Attire will be casual.

Please complete the attached reservation form by May 6th and submit to Cynthia Spita at the address provided.

Analysis of All Feasible Alternatives

Alternative 1: Attend the celebration as proposed. This will provide a great opportunity to get together and wish Becky the best.

Alternative 2: Unable to attend, but wish to contribute to the gift.

Alternative 3: Do nothing - live in denial that Becky can't retire!

Recommendation

Alternative 1: Come to Becky's retirement party!
